What the hell, you can’t be serious…

Yep, you read correctly, this is the year of “what the hell, you can’t be serious”. At camp are P.J., Mary Ellen (M.E.), Deb, Ed, and Abby. P.J. and M.E. arrive to find the UV filter is shattered because it was left with water in it over the winter months. After considerable searching the parts are found in Callendar. A day of travel & work & the unit is fixed. But, there is a leak at hte pump due to a broken fitting. It gets fixed. Then we notice problems with the pressure switch. We may have that repaired. P.J.’s boat has a problem with the fuel to the engine. Tow it to Boatline Bay where it might sit for 2 weeks! Put the brown boat in the water & it has the same porblem. A trip to Temagami Marine & $256 and we solve the issues. The Dixie started fine, so we have 3 boats out of 4 _ not too bad.

The weather has been cool for the 1st week, water temp 64° – 66°. Lots of wind that keeps the lake turned over.

Lake remains cool at 69°. Fishing, not bad. The wedding of P.J. and M.E. took place on the dock July 6th at Noon. A pastor from North Bay drove up to Temagami to perform the service. His name is Jason McCutchen. Lunch followed, all went as rehearsed.

Abby left Sunday the 9th, M.E. left yesterday and Max and tribe left this A.M. We’re down to 3. Next Paul and Char arrive for a week or so on Sunday the 17th. John E & friend, Jud are next for 10 days or so. Then we’ll be back to 7 at camp.

July 27th

Char & Paul left this AM after a good stay. The large fish to date is 7# pike by Paul, John E & Deb. Jud leaves at lunch, John E stays until Saturday.

John E. leaves, and Ed & Deb leave the 31st. Of note is P.J. had to buy a new outboard, 60hp from Boatline Bay. Water temp to 73° then back to 70° at most. Several fires to keep warm_basically a cool summer. Climate change! And only 1 night of skitter-popping. Coming back in Sept. Wind, wind!

August 20th

Only P.J. & M.E. in camp August 11-18. ME’s daughter Erin, hubby, Ben Perry, and grand kids (Adam 14, Joe 11, Cecilia “Ceci” 7) arrive the 18th Fish are scarce and too small…but hope to land a keeper or 3+ in hte next 3 days. The Perry’s leave for home (Corning, NY) on the 23rd. PJ & ME leave for NC on the 23rd also to celebrate Grace’s 80th! We saw 2 otters swim past 1092 this afternoon.

September

PJ, ME, Abby, Deb, and Ed return for grouse shooting and late season pike. In a word the weather is foul, rain, rain, and more rain. Have 2 nice days out of 10. The fishing is spotty with 2 keeper pike on the last fishing trip. The grouse are few, Abby & PJ each harvest one. We finally determine that the H2O pump has quit. New pump installed Sept 20 or so. Finally all is working well.

The big fish of the year was 11# caught by PJ’s guest Dave Fierst (+/- because the pike was not weighed or measured in an effort to return the guy to the water).

That seems to be all until next summer if all goes as planned….
