Ed, Deb, and Abby arrive later on this Sunday. PJ& Mary Ellen arrived yesterday after foolishly fighting Toronto Friday traffic. Good for us, as they did much of the opening procedure. Quebec fires made for a very smoky first few days. Weather quite cool at the start, water temp down to 63°. Smoke cleared Wednesday morning bringing with it the warmer weather, as we slowly warmed up with high’s creeping into the mid to high 80°’s at the start of the second week. Water temp to 78° and going up. Fishing is fair, 1 good lake troute caught by M.E. in the Northwest Arm, some bass and pike to eat too. Ed catches 13.8# pike with daredevil on the ultra lite, with no leader in Devil Bay – big fight almost leaving Ed more useless than normal.
Our canoe is experiencing some paint chipping and peeling. Ed has reached out to Glen who is now retired, and then to Ian Cameron who Glen recommended that lives on the Narrows at phone 237-8070 but with no reply. He went down to see Dave Thompson at Wabun who recommneded John Kilbridge who now owns Temagami Canoe, living in New Liskard, phone 705-622-1670.
Is now July 4th and hot but still fishing & effecting repairs. This is also the year of -the puppy with little Scout arriving at 6 months old.
Happy Independence Day America!
